Despondent, depressed, angry, hopeful, excited, dashed, excited again. I throw my feelings onto the page, wrap up the page (delete it), and begin again.
I just deleted Twitter. Shucks, I liked Twitter once upon a time.
I find it hard to look at or write about trivialities right now when so much is at stake.
Sadness and disgust are more emotions that have been racing past lately.
Friday: I learned that the President-elect appointed Kristi Noem to Head of Homeland Security by the US President-elect. Noem wrote about killing her 14-month-old puppy because he was a poor hunter so she could "prove" to us she could handle the hard stuff. He wanted to chase butterflies. She led him to a quarry and shot him.  Rather apt, don't you think—a free spirit wanting to chase butterflies instead of hunting for someone else? Noem could have given him to somebody else or sold him. But no, she "proved" she could do the hard stuff.
I hope I don't awaken in the night thinking about how rowdy an adolescent pup can be—and how full of joy.
Oh yeah, there was a male goat, too. Noem shot it because it was mean.
Unneutered goats can be mean. Their purpose in life is to make more goats. Our goats, Orville and Wilbur, were neutered--banded, not cut--and were the sweetest, most delightful personalities. They were free-range on our forested property and kept the bush cleared.

Velshi: The Path Forward
Velshi's father lost an election in Canada when Velshi was 11 years old. Young Velshi was devastated.
"Of course we lost," his father said. "We weren't going to win."
Then why run? Young Velshi asked.
"Because we could." (the father was raised in black Africa) Later, he won an election.
We fight for the future.
"Conflict produces change. The fact that we lost means our work is not yet done."
Susan B. Antony fought for 45 years as a suffragette for women's rights.
