Calling All Women
It’s up to us!
I remember Richard Bach wrote, "If you wonder if your mission on earth is over, if you're alive, it isn't." (Books: Illusions, Jonathan Livingston Seagull)
Incidentally, Bach sent a copy of Jonathan Livingston Seagull to Ray Bradbury (one of my heroes) and asked him what he thought of the story. Bradbury said it was a nice little story and would sell about 15,000 copies. In April 1992, it went on the NYT bestseller list and sold 440,000 copies. It was reissued in the 1970s and became one of the most popular novels between 1970 and 1975. All total it sold 30 million copies.
People like little stories about a seagull who dared to fly where others have never flown.
We still like stories about people or animals who listen to a higher calling.
We're still human beings with a heart and soul, no matter how much division we have in this country.
Bach was a fiction writer, and whether his statement was true or not, it sang to me.
Have you ever wondered what your mission is?
I wonder about mine.
I'm a little person sitting in an Oregon town, writing, thinking, feeling, blogging, and wanting to make a difference in the world. A few hear my voice, but not in the numbers, the world likes to deal with now. But I'm still alive and have a voice and fingers for the keys.
Have you noticed that many of us are afraid to say what we really think because we think we will start an argument or a fight, lose friends, or be ostracized?
Does Money Really Win Elections?
Hum, I thought votes did.
Suddenly, one of the wealthiest men in the US is donating $45 million—that's $45,000,000,000.00—to the Trump campaign Each Month! I hope it's a waste of his money, but it's a shame it's going into the media. I know a lot of people could benefit from having a few million thrown their way.
His opponents run scared because they think money equals winning.
They aren’t counting Warrior Women.
Women, we can keep Trump out of the White House.
Remember what a wise matriarchal mare does with a bully? She drives them out of the herd until they shape up. (Out of the herd is the worst punishment for a horse.) Once they have learned their lesson, they get a lot of love, and wither scratching.
That's a momma.
Many of us are mommas, and those who aren't are imbibed with care.
Does money win elections?
I thought votes did.
Are you so undecided about what to do that you are swayed by an ad each day?
More ads, more money put into them. Wow, the media gets rich, the candidates get exposure, the people get poorer, and a leopard doesn't change his spots.
Haven’t you made up your mind already?
Don't we have a determination that does not rely on money?
All the ads can be just bluster. We know what’s right, and it’s not a criminal in the White House.
Women, we can win this election. Women voters outnumber men by about one million. And we have many men behind us who also think letting a criminal slip through the cracks is criminal. What are some people thinking—that ethics and morality doesn’t matter anymore? That blatant lies are normal?
I know lies have become so common place now that we don’t know what the truth is. And if we do it doesn’t seem to matter.
I quoted John F Kennedy last week. “The one who governs best is the best governor.” It can’t possibly be a liar and a cheat.
It's time to drop depression and fear and get mad. Not violent, just revved up.
Remember the movie Network? "We are mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore."
Will we let the good ole boys run not only the show but also govern our bodies?
And then to add salt to the wounds, what does Trump do? He chooses a running mate with even more extreme views.
Trump’s running mate has supported a nationwide abortion ban and even criticized exceptions for rape and incest. The candidate said, "Two wrongs don't make a right."
He has called Social Security and Medicare "the biggest roadblocks to real fiscal sanity." (What? Take it away from the seniors and give it to the rich?)
He said women should stay in violent marriages.
He admits he wouldn't have certified the election results immediately on January 6 if he'd been vice president. He even said he's "skeptical" that Pence was in danger. (A gallows doesn’t paint a grim picture?)
I've heard it said that we vote for the person who hates what we hate.
Drop the hate. We love freedom, choice, living free, loving our neighbor, and having our families free from worry and strife.
Women and the men behind us, let us use our power.
